St Nicolas Players Spalding
'Disposing of the Body'
'Local News'
Thur 18th - Sat 20th October 2007
South Holland Centre, Spalding
... a superb evening ...
Note from the Director ...
As a relative newcomer to St Nics (the first show I worked on was "Brassed Off' last October) I was quite surpised when they offered me the opportunity to direct 'Local News'. It was an exciting prospect, but also a rather daunting and frightening one, and a huge reponsability.
I had a vision from the forst time I read the script of how it should be staged and once we had started working on the play and interpreted it in our own way, it started to come to life in front of my eyes. I have had a huge amount of help and support from everyone at St Nics, for which I am very grateful, and it has turned out to be a fantastic and uplifting experience for me. The cast and crew have all enjoyed working together and we hope that you will leave the theatre tonight with the same good feeling.
The action takes place in a sleepy little town called Taviscombe in the West Country. The local bobbies and the local press are desperate for something to happen, for them to solve and report respectively, and so they both hatch a cunning plan ...!
We don't want to give away too much so just sit back and enjoy the antics of the two groups plotting the crime of the year,
